The Umbraco UK Festival is coming back.......

In the most widely anticipated release since the V8 alpha, we're pleased to announce tickets for the Umbraco UK Festival are now available!

Umbraco UK Festival 9

Last year we received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the Umbraco community after our 80’s themed UK Fest, with many attendees hailing it ‘the best UK Fest to date’. We all left the festival absolutely buzzing and we really felt like we’d nailed it! With so much love being shown for venue, the new addition of the Community Discussion Panels and a schedule packed full of amazing speakers which we worked so hard to curate, we knew it’d be a tough one to beat...

Understandably this put us in a particularly difficult position this year as we asked ourselves; How could we improve the event, bring even better content to our 300 attendees, and also attract more first timers from both around and outside of the UK?

So we decided that this year we’d do the same again…..but different…

Of course the question on everyone’s lips is “when and where?” And we’re super excited to announce on the 8th and 9th of November we’re going back…..back to the Barbican!

So what's different?

Based on a lot of feedback from the community about previous festivals, this year we've decided to move all workshops from Friday to the Thursday, running alongside the hackathon. We’re dedicating a whole half day to each workshop to maximise value. There will be one workshop in the morning and one in the afternoon meaning that if you’d like to, you can attend both, or choose one and spend the rest of the day at the hackathon. It also means that the workshops won’t interfere with the talks on the main day, so you won’t need to worry about missing out on any of the fantastic sessions!

Something at the forefront of our priorities this year is an increased focus on diversity and inclusion. It’s something that we’ve always felt strongly about though may not have publicly spoken about. For the first time we are officially backing and enforcing a Code Of Conduct for the event! We have chosen an open source code of conduct that we feel represents the values of Umbraco and of the festival.

We understand events like this can be quite intense for some. This year we'll have a dedicated "quiet room" for those that need a bit of time to just chill out away from the hustle and bustle of the main event.

We've also made some smaller changes, like reducing booking fees by swapping to a new payment solution and streamlining the process of buying tickets / registering for workshops so you can't forget!

Sounds great, right?

With the festival now going into its 9th year, we thought it would be a great opportunity to take a trip down Umb-memory lane and look back at some of the highlights from the past 8 years’ of Umbraco UK Fests. We’ll be revealing more on this very soon, so for now all you need to do is go get your ticket and dig out your best vintage Umbraco t-shirts, totes and badges if you fancy being in with a chance of winning some kick ass prizes!
